My research uses stylistic subtleties in literature and art to make sense of pressing social issues today, such as micro-aggressions, emotional labor,  and avoidant intimacy. I turn to contemporary debates on under-stated behaviors of inequality to refresh the stakes of the modern novel and critical theory in representing systemic power.
